Photo of the Hurricane Saxophone Quartet Covering everything from Bach to the Beatles and beyond, these four women combine their considerable talents to make up one of the country's premier professional saxophone ensembles. The Hurricanes are Amy Inmon on soprano saxophone, Debra Schweihs on alto, Laura Kidd Pryzby on tenor, and Holly Copeland Aaronson on baritone saxophone. Able to cross stylistic boundaries with ease, their performance credits include classical recitals, community and cultural festivals, radio, TV, and even their hometown Chicago Bulls games!

MEET THE HURRICANES

Amy Inmon, soprano saxophone, received a Master of Music degree in Music Education from Vandercook College of Music. She received a Bachelor of Music degree in Saxophone Performance and Music Education from Northwestern University, where her primary instructors were Frederick Hemke, John Paynter, and Paul Bro. Amy has performed as a soloist around the world, including Germany in 1992 and the World's Fair in New Orleans, and was winner and featured soloist of the 1993 Northwestern University Concerto Competition. She has also performed as a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Amy currently performs throughout the Chicago area and is a band director at London Middle School in Wheeling, Illinois.
Debra Schweihs, alto saxophone, received her Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern University, and Masters degree in Music Education from Northern Illinois University. Some of her primary teachers have included Frederick Hemke, Paul Bro, and John Paynter from Northwestern University, and Bill Street from the University of Southern Maine. Debbie has taught in Skokie Public Schools and Lake Forest Country Day School and is currently teaching band for Woodstock CUSD 200 school system in Woodstock, Illinois. She also teaches private lessons and performs throughout the Chicago area in local big bands and community theater groups.
Laura Kidd Pryzby, tenor saxophone, received a Bachelor of Music degree in Arts Management and Saxophone Performance from Northwestern University. Her primary teachers have included Frederick Hemke and Paul Bro from Northwestern and Lisa Parent and Miles Osland of the Eastman School of Music. Among her many honors received is the Musicians Club of Women Farwell Award. She has performed in recitals as a soloist and with chamber ensembles and orchestras throughout Chicago and New England. Laura earned an MBA degree from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management and was on the administrative staff of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for over a decade, working in the areas of education and artistic programming. In addition, she is a certified energy therapist.
Holly Copeland Aaronson, baritone saxophone, has performed and won numerous awards and competitions as a soloist throughout North and South America. She served as a performer and Professor of Saxophone at the Fundação Carlos Gomes Conservatory in Belém, Brazil, and was the winner of the Missouri and West Central Division of the Music Teachers National Association Wurlitzer Concerto Competition and the recipient of other awards and scholarships, including the Arts Recognition and Talent Search (YoungArts), the National Federation of Music Club's Scholarship Competition, and the Chicago North Shore Musician's Club Scholarship Competition. She also performed as a member of the Disneyland All-American College Band and with Chicago area orchestras, including the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Holly received a Bachelor of Music degree with Distinction in Music Education from Northwestern University and a Master of Music degree in Saxophone Performance from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She taught saxophone at Trinity International University, and she currently teaches private lessons, presents at clinics, and performs as a member of the Northshore Concert Band and the Not For Profit band.
